Paradisea lusitanica
Family: Asparagaceae
This species is a perennial herb that can be observed in Vale do Lourêdo, near the convergence between the creek and the Lourêdo river, in the underbrush within the riparian area. This species is usually between 80 to 120 centimetres tall and has a green, smooth, erect stem without leaves. The leaves of this species, present at the base, are green, linear, thin and about 40 centimetres long. Flowering occurs in spring, and its flowers are white in the shape of a campanula or star.
This herb is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula (native species that occurs exclusively in this region), and can be found primarily in the mountainous areas of the north. It occurs mainly in humid mountain areas, preferring meadows, marshes, edges or deciduous forests and riparian zones.
