RECOVERY AND ENRICHMENT OF THE NATURAL HERITAGE OF THE VALE DO LOURÊDO
Project financed by the Portuguese Environmental Fund (Fundo Ambiental), Conservation of Nature and Biodiversity - Management of biodiversity and strengthening of natural capital.
Ecological restoration and rehabilitation of part of the Lourêdo valley land:
Improve the natural state and reduce pressures and risk factors within territory, through thoroughly planned land clearing, removal of invasive species and the plantation of native tree species, promoting biodiversity and creating areas of high natural value.
Recovery Rehabilitation
Enrichment of natural capital and ecosystem services:
Design and promote a walking trail with unique artistic components - The Fox Trail, a circular track that runs through the Lourêdo valley, parallel to the river, crossing a Natura 2000 protected area.
Ecosystem Valuation
Dissemination of the importance of national heritage and natural capital:
Launch a digital platform with content that will promote the knowledge and conservation of the biodiversity of the Vale do Lourêdo region, by providing nature guides of the animals and plants found in the area.
Education
Promoting sustainable practices and behaviors within the territory, while mitigating human impacts and promoting the sustainable use of resources: Promote biodiversity and ecological restoration while carrying out economic activities in harmony with nature.

Just an hour away from the city of Porto and twenty minutes from the Alvão Natural Park, Vale do Lourêdo, located in Bustelo (Ribeira de Pena), is a space where nature activities and the respect for biodiversity meet.
